Asura Cryin' (アスラクライン Asura Kurain?) is a Japanese light novel series by Gakuto Mikumo, with illustrations by Nao Watanuki. The first novel was released on July 10, 2005, and as of November 10, 2009, thirteen volumes have been published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation by Ryō Akizuki started serialization in ASCII Media Works' shōnen manga magazine Dengeki Daioh on September 27, 2008. An anime adaptation began airing in Japan in April 2009.
A semi-serious school action story revolving around the main protagonist, Tomoharu Natsume. He is haunted by his childhood friend, Misao Minakami, who became a ghost ever since he barely survived an airplane accident three years earlier. Tomoharu Natsume takes the opportunity to live on his own when he enters high school in his new place of residence, Meiou-tei, and starts enjoying a carefree high school life. His life changed when a beautiful girl named Kurosaki Shuri appears with a trunk which she claimed Tomoharu's brother, Naotaka Natsume, asked her to deliver to him. The presence of the trunk causes the appearance of Takatsuki Kanade, a girl dressed like a shrine maiden who is after the trunk. Tomoharu is in possession of the trunk, which reveals secrets about the world they live in.

Blair is a cat with strong magical powers who was first mistaken for a witch by Maka and Soul. She was supposed to be the final soul they needed to make Soul a Death Scythe, but since Blair was not a witch they only took one of her nine "lives". Unfortunately, this meant that Maka and Soul had to start all over again from zero souls. After their fight, Blair moved in with Maka and Soul for no apparent reason and took up a part-time job in the Chuppa-cabras night club. Maka and Soul, as well as their friends, have quietly accepted Blair into their lives.
Blair's mantra "Pumpumkin-Pumkin" is said before using most of her powers, be it for aggressive, recreational, or personal interests. The theme of her magic consists of pumpkins, which she uses as weapons. She can launch pumpkins like cannon balls or pumpkin-shaped explosions. So far Blair has only demonstrated using her powers on inanimate objects. Blair is a skilled fighter and once single-handedly bested five Mizune witches during their assault on DWMA. Her cat form does not hamper her magical ability nor her ability to speak. In the manga, Blair has been shown to be strong enough to deal with the evil spirit The Flying Dutchman all by herself while in her cat form.

Sephiroth is first introduced in the game when Cloud and his company (known as AVALANCHE), detained in Shinra's headquarters, wake up only to find their cell doors ajar and their jailors, including President Shinra slaughtered. Evidence of the method of the onslaught, as well as the unique weapon used, leads Cloud to conclude that it was the act of Sephiroth, the famous former member of Shinra's elite warriors who is believed to have died five years ago. Cloud tells his friends how five years ago, he and Sephiroth, who were part of Shinra’s army, were sent to Nibelheim (Cloud's hometown) to investigate a malfunctioning Shinra reactor. However, Sephiroth went rogue, burned down Nibelheim and killed many. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances and was presumed dead.
